Stain-resistant and long-lasting, FibreGuard fabrics are engineered from the inside out to perform. At Long Eaton Sofas, our sofas can be made in a wide range of FibreGuard fabrics from Osborne & Little, Warwick and Wemyss.
FibreGuard is the result of years of research and testing by interior designers and textile engineers. FibreGuard fabrics are ‘life-friendly’ and are ready to stand up to anything daily life can throw at them.
The FibreGuard effect is permanent, meaning that the stain-free properties in your fabrics will last with prolonged use and they are easy to clean. Common household stains, such as chocolate, coffee, tea, ketchup, lipstick, mayonnaise, mud, oil, pen, red wine, silly putty, yoghurt, wax crayon, and many more stain-causing items, are just no match for their Stain Free Technology.
All accidental stains can be removed using only water, but should you have a tougher stain, a small amount of standard, white, household soap, can be used.

Are FibreGuard fabrics better than normal water repellent treatments?
Water repellents are effective when a stain is on the surface because they block the entry of penetrating liquid for a few minutes. Once the stain has penetrated the fabric, then most repellents cease to be effective and it then becomes difficult to clean the fabric completely due to debris that has already embedded into the fabric. Water repellent finishes are typically applied to, or sprayed on to the surface of 'easy clean' fabrics after have been produced. These finishes are not permanent and will reduce in effectiveness after a period of time.
With FibreGuard fabrics, stain resistance is permanent and is applied to the fibres and yarns before the weaving process. Stains are unable to penetrate the fibres and therefore sit on the surface of the fabric allowing the easy removal with just water in most cases.
Is FibreGuard a safe and eco-friendly product?
All FibreGuard fabrics, are manufactured and certified under the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, guaranteeing that they won’t release any harmful finishes or chemicals into the environment and are completely safe for contact with you, your children and your pets.
- The STANDARD 100 is a product label for textiles and accessories that have been tested for harmful substances.
- Products certified with OEKO-TEX® do not contain any harmful substances.
- The certification system is in many cases more comprehensive and stricter than required by national and international standards.
- The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification means more transparent supplier relationships upholding a consistent standard of excellence.
- The test criteria are globally standardised and are updated at least once a year based on new scientific information or statutory requirements.
Their unique STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® number is 0611045.
What type of stains can be removed?
Common household stains, such as chocolate, coffee, tea, ketchup, lipstick, mayonnaise, mud, oil, pen, red wine, silly putty, yoghurt, wax crayon, and many more stain-causing items, are just no match for FibreGuard’s Stain Free Technology.
All accidental stains can be removed using only water, but should you have a tougher stain, a small amount of standard, white, household soap, can be used. Keep in mind that immediate stain removal will ensure the best result.

Does FibreGuard protect me from viruses and bacteria?
Yes, many (not all) of the latest FibreGuard collections have an anti-microbial finish, which is applied during our manufacturing process. This provides an extra level of security against germs by reducing the spread of bacteria.
The anti-microbial properties of FibreGuard fabrics are rigorously tested according to these standards:
- ASTM E2149 (2013) – to prove significant reduction of bacteria growth, the result must be a reduction of at least 90%.
- ISO 20743 8.2 (2013) – to prove significant reduction of bacteria growth, the result must be higher than 2, ideally 3
All FibreGuard anti-microbial fabrics surpass these standards offering excellent performance in the reduction of bacteria.
