Wool Month - October 2025

The Campaign for Wool was launched in 2010 to educate consumers about the benefits of wool and help to support and grow the wool industry. Run by a coalition of industry groups convened by His Majesty King Charles III, when he was The Prince of Wales, the Campaign works to engage consumers through exciting fashion, interiors and artisan activities centring around Wool Month each year in October.
Wool Month is our annual chance to celebrate one of the most sustainable, resilient and beautiful fibres nature gives us. At a time when concerns about climate change, fast fashion and environmental impact are more urgent than ever, wool shines through like no other fibre:
- Wool is 100% renewable
- Biodegradable
- Temperature regulating
- Durable
- Naturally fire retardant
This year is even more important, as this year marks 15 years since the Campaign for Wool was initiated by their patron, HM King Charles III.
At Long Eaton Sofas, we love working with wool. Wool upholstery fabrics are hardwearing and practical. They are also the most eco-friendly fabric option for sofas, being totally sustainable, biodegradable and inherently fire retardant (fire resistant without the need for extra chemical treatment or an interliner). Our wool fabric ranges are also mostly British woven too from names such as Abbotsford, Abraham Moon, Art of the Loom, Linwood and The Isle Mill, so you can have a piece of furniture that is 100% British made.

Bronte British Wool Collection
Recognised for its commitment to British craft, this collection was awarded ‘Best Made in the UK’ Gift 2025 by The Giftware Association.
In partnership with the British Wool Board and Campaign for Wool, Bronte by Moon has created this collection of luxury throws using entirely British Lambswool, British design and finally, produced in one of the few remaining vertical woollen mills in the UK, Abraham Moon, where every single production process is conducted under one roof. The result is a collection of beautifully designed luxury throws that are completely traceable from farm to finish.
Inspired by the local British landscapes surrounding us, four original designs are presented across five different colourways. From the dyeing of the wool to the creation of the yarn through to the weaving and the imparting of the soft, lofty handle in the final finish, this collection is a testament to home-bred design, sustainability, innovation and provenance at its heart.
