How to design your own sofa with Long Eaton Sofas

At Long Eaton Sofas we do not limit you in any way, so you have the freedom to create your ideal sofa just the way you want it.

The process all starts with a relaxed visit to our 5,000sqft showroom here in Long Eaton. You are welcome to browse our showroom at your own pace with furniture experts on hand to help you when you are ready. Wander around our 80-90 pieces with a tea or coffee and try the various styles out for comfort.

Sofa Style

Once you have found the sofa style you like it is then deciding what sizes you would like. With us manufacturing all our solid hardwood frames in house, we are able to alter the length, depth & height of the majority of our models to ensure it either fits you or your desired space at home perfectly. All our ranges have standard sizes but if you find the display model too shallow or too deep we can alter this to your requirements. As a stand alone sofa we can manufacture our ranges to a maximum length of 300cm. (Any sofa over 225cm in length will have a centre leg to support the frame) If you require a sofa longer than 300cm it can be manufactured, but it will be created by producing two one arm sections that connect together once in your room of choice. Once you have selected your perfect style it is then time to choose your ideal fabric or leather.

Fabric or Leather?

When you visit our showroom you will see the vast amount of fabric and leather swatch books we have available for you. This can be the most daunting part when choosing your new sofa, but rest assured our furniture experts are on hand to help every step of the way. If you are after a certain colour or texture our experts can guide you to which ranges are best suited for your requirements. We also have the swatch books stored together in the appropriate sections (House Essential, House Eco, Aquaclean, Fibreguard, The Best of British & Leather). Once you have selected your preferred fabric or leather we can arrange for samples to be sent to your home to ensure they fit in with the rest of your decor. If you are keeping your current flooring, paint, wallpaper, blinds or curtains and are able to bring samples or bits in to the showroom on your visit this always helps to match colours when originally selecting your fabric or leather.

Seat & Back Cushion Interiors (The Comfy part)

At Long Eaton Sofas we do not limit you to the comfort preference of a buyer, like you get in retailers. Due to us being the manufacturer we are able to give you the choice of comfort for your sofa to ensure you don't just have a sofa that looks good, it feels good when you sit in it too! 

Our seat cushions are available in 5 different fillings: 

• Quallofil Fusion Fibre Blue 
• Soft/Medium Foam with Fibre wrap
• Medium/Firm Foam with Fibre wrap 
• 100% Feather

Our back cushions are available in 3 different fillings:

• Quallofil Fusion Fibre Blue
• Supersoft Foam
• 100% Feather

If you decide on one of our fixed back sofas, these are fully sprung to provide you with the support and comfort to last a lifetime.

Within our showroom we have examples of all our cushion interior options, so please ask one of our furniture experts who will be able to help you when selecting your preferred cushion fillings.

Legs (Feet)

All our sofa legs are attached to our frames using an M8 thread that screws in to a d-nut within the corner block of our solid hardwood frames. This is done for two reasons:

1. To give you the flexibility to change the style of leg to suit you.
2. Being able to unscrew the legs helps our delivery crews get sofas in to rooms that may not be able to fit if the legs are attached.

We work with numerous different suppliers for our legs, so you are sure to be able to find a leg that suits you.

Please be aware we are not able to manufacture one off bespoke items, or produce styles that are other manufacturers designs. With over 100 different styles within our range we are sure you can find a sofa that suits you.
